Day 71
Recent kindnesses
“I was just enjoying lying here next to you.”
“Thanks, Mom.”
A delivery from a colleague of things needed from the office.
Coffee in bed.
Hug from a teenage son.
Water bottle delivered to the hammock.
People on the bike path wearing masks.
Three kids working together on a project.
Backyard cleanup.
A Kindle book shared.
A loaned saw.
“Tell you parents I say hi.”
The cases and deaths in Massachusetts continue to decline, though I haven’t looked closely enough to know whether it’s a significant decline over a significant period of time.
My son told me about a study out of Singapore that predicts the pandemic to be “over” by November 11 in the United States. I do not believe this. I have not looked for this article (yet).
I have the next week off because my workplace is closed. Everyone is required to use vacation time for four days. This is time I would have used anyway, given that the end of the school year presents many opportunities to take days off — field trips, field day, fifth-grade stepping up ceremony, etc.
Today
I painted my toenails.
I took my son to a local school parking lot so he could practice driving.
I did laundry.
I read.
I cleaned the bathrooms.
I matched socks.
I made beds.
I sat outside.
I made two more masks.
I texted with my sister and my mom.
I thought and thought and thought about all of the things that still and always need doing.
I spent the afternoon on the verge of tears.
I smilled.
I made dinner.
I got in bed. Early.
Stay safe, everyone.
