Today’s win: Clean sheets, dried on the line in the sun.
Also today: Purchased new sneakers for my son online. The last thing we didn’t do before we all “locked in,” as he says, is go get him new sneakers.
The two of us were planning to go to a friend’s daughter’s bat mitzvah on March 14. The plan was to go to the celebration, stay with GG and on the way home, do a little shopping, because his sneakers, the ones I bought him about 6 months ago, were ratty. But we didn’t go. I didn’t want to put my mom’s health at risk. It was a difficult decision at the time, but that was the beginning of our new and current normal. Effective two days later, schools were cancelled, I was ordered to work from home, and in the days since then there have been no opportunities to go shopping.
So tonight, new sneakers ordered. Size 12. TWELVE.
The coronavirus task force members and related news stories all tell us that this week and next are going to be devastating. That we will be watching the death tolls rise. Today’s deaths in the U.S. surpassed 10,000. It’s awful to know how rapidly that number is going to go up and up. So many line graphs and bar graphs. I keep looking for one that tells a different story, a more optimistic story, but they all show a dire discrepancy between ICU beds needed and ICU beds available. Or an only ascending line of cases and deaths.
That’s all I can wrap my brain around. Short post tonight.
Stay safe, everyone.
